Job Overview:

A law firm in Chicago, IL, is seeking a Senior Advertising Marketing and Promotions Attorney to join their team. This role is ideal for an experienced attorney with a robust background in advertising law, consumer protection law, and marketing transactions. The position involves drafting and negotiating various marketing agreements, reviewing ad copy, and providing legal counsel on compliance issues related to advertising and promotions. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong attention to detail, excellent legal writing and communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a collaborative environment. Experience in a large or medium law firm setting is preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Draft and negotiate advertising agency, influencer, celebrity endorsement, sponsorship, and online media buying agreements.
• Review advertising copy for false advertising, claim substantiation, intellectual property issues, and right of publicity concerns.
• Provide legal counsel on compliance with contest and sweepstakes regulations.
• Advise clients on price advertising, recurring subscriptions, and loyalty/rewards programs.
• Handle false advertising, unfair competition, and National Advertising Division dispute matters.
• Collaborate with other attorneys and staff to deliver comprehensive legal solutions.
• Stay updated on current trends and changes in advertising law and regulations.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the Bar in Illinois.
• Substantial experience in advertising law, consumer protection law, and marketing transactions.
• Proven track record in drafting and negotiating complex marketing agreements.
• Experience with false advertising, unfair competition, and National Advertising Division disputes is desirable.
• Prior experience in a large or medium-sized law firm is preferred.

Certifications:

• Licensed to practice law in Illinois.
