A law firm in New York City, NY, is seeking a Real Estate Associate Attorney to join their team. The ideal candidate will have strong academic credentials, excellent technical skills, and a solid understanding of the real estate sector. This role requires strong oral and written communication skills to effectively explain complex legal concepts to non-lawyers. Responsibilities include drafting and negotiating real estate documents, advising on various real estate transactions, and conducting due diligence for M&A and other projects.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Represent domestic and international investors, developers, and institutions in real estate transactions involving various asset classes, including commercial, industrial, mixed-use, multi-family residential, and hospitality properties.
  • Draft and negotiate real estate documents, including purchase/sale agreements, joint venture agreements, legal opinions, certificates, resolutions, and consents.
  • Advise clients on real estate-related financing, acquisition, sale, and joint venture matters.
  • Conduct and coordinate due diligence projects related to mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and other transactions, including lease review, title and survey review, and drafting due diligence reports.
  • Ensure clients’ interests are represented and protected throughout transactions.
  • Conduct legal research to support various real estate and corporate matters.
  • Manage project timelines and deliverables effectively while maintaining a high standard of work.
  • Participate in negotiations and project management as required.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree (LLM or foreign equivalent) from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the New York Bar and in good standing.
  • 2+ years of experience in general real estate and corporate practice, particularly in acquisitions, dispositions, joint ventures, and financings.
  • Experience conducting due diligence for M&A transactions, including lease review, title and survey review, and drafting due diligence reports.
  • Strong academic credentials with excellent technical skills and basic knowledge of the real property sector.

Skills:

  • Outstanding communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts to non-lawyers.
  • Excellent drafting skills and experience with various real estate and transactional documents.
  • Strong time management skills, with the ability to stay calm under pressure while juggling multiple projects.
  • Proficient in legal research and analysis.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize tasks effectively to meet deadlines.
