Job Overview:

A law firm in Chicago, IL, seeks an experienced Corporate/Employment Counsel to join their team. This position requires a legal professional with a strong background in employment law, offering strategic advice and handling complex employment-related issues. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in employment law, superior organizational and writing skills, and a client-focused approach.

Duties:

  • Advise clients on employment-related compliance issues, including worker classification, wage and hour regulations, immigration, unions and collective bargaining, employment policies and handbooks, and equal opportunity laws.
  • Draft and review employment agreements, separation agreements, and other documents.
  • Provide counsel on reductions-in-force and WARN Act compliance.
  • Draft and advice on restrictive covenants, including non-compete and non-solicitation clauses.
  • Conduct due diligence and manage employment-related representations and covenants in transaction documents.
  • Collaborate with clients to develop and implement effective employment policies and practices.
  • Represent clients in employment-related disputes and litigation as needed.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 4 years of employment law experience at a nationally recognized law firm.
  • Proven expertise in advising on various employment-related compliance matters.
  • Demonstrated ability to draft and review complex employment agreements and policies.
  • Experience with employment-related diligence and transaction documents is a plus.
  • Excellent academic credentials and a strong client-focused work ethic.
  • Superior writing and organizational skills.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Member in good standing of the Illinois Bar or eligibility to waive into the IL Bar.
