A law firm in Scottsdale, AZ is seeking an Associate Attorney who is results-driven and has experience in or a strong desire to become experienced in the consumer collection industry. The attorney will advocate for clients in and out of court during the legal collection process, draft legal documents, and maintain client relationships.

Job Duties:

  • Provide thorough and practical assessments and legal advice to clients involved in consumer collection matters.
  • Advocate for clients in court and out-of-court negotiations, focusing on achieving favorable resolutions.
  • Draft and review legal briefs, correspondence, pleadings, and other legal documents related to consumer collections.
  • Document account/file activity in accordance with firm and client policies and procedures.
  • Travel to various courts in the state to handle all aspects of a case’s litigation life cycle.
  • Research and interpret laws, rulings, and regulations, and formulate legal opinions for review by supervising attorneys.
  • Communicate effectively with opposing counsel, pro se parties, and clients to resolve disputes and negotiate settlements.
  • Attend continuing education classes, webinars, and seminars to stay updated on changes in local, state, or federal laws and court procedures.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to leverage resources and knowledge in identifying effective legal solutions.
  • Demonstrate superior time management skills to meet business requirements and deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Possess leadership skills to motivate and drive team members to achieve results.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervising attorneys or firm management.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the State Bar of Arizona or eligibility for admission within six months of hire.
  • Experience in consumer collection litigation preferred, with a strong understanding of the legal regulatory framework of the industry.
  • Knowledge of civil litigation processes and state and federal consumer protection laws.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with colleagues, clients, and external parties.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage priorities effectively and work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and staying informed about legal developments.
