A law firm is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Traditional Labor Of Counsel to join their team in Los Angeles, CA. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in labor law, particularly in handling unfair labor practice charges at the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) and providing comprehensive legal advice to employers on various workplace issues. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with excellent organizational and communication skills who can effectively represent management in labor-related matters.

Job Responsibilities

  • Handle unfair labor practice charges at the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB).
  • Conduct thorough research and writing on labor law matters.
  • Represent management in NLRB elections.
  • Provide legal advice to employers regarding union organizing, corporate campaigns, card checks, and neutrality agreements.
  • Negotiate and provide legal advice on collective bargaining agreements.
  • Manage grievance, arbitration, and unfair labor practice proceedings.
  • Obtain mass picketing injunctions.
  • Advise employers on federal and California wage and hour issues, leave management, disability accommodation issues, and other workplace concerns.
  • Review employee handbooks, policies, and forms for compliance with federal and state law.
  • Evaluate compensation, commission, and bonus plans.
  • Conduct management training on labor relations, federal and California workplace issues, harassment, discrimination, and retaliation.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as reasonably assigned.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Minimum of 9 years of litigation or advisory work as an attorney.
  • Traditional labor experience preferred.
  • Experience with federal and California advice and counsel work preferred.
  • Admission to the California Bar.
  • Understanding of current state and federal agency enforcement techniques preferred.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Superior written and oral communication skills.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish preferred.
