H2: Join Our Dynamic Law and Motion Team at CAPIC Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Draft appellate briefs, motions, and applications for complex CAPIC litigated matters. - Provide advice and assistance to attorneys through all phases of litigation. - Research and analyze case law for persuasive briefs and motions. - Advocate in appellate courts before appellate justices. - Assist in framing issues at trial and preserving records for appeal. - Advise on writ petitions for both in-house and outside trial panel counsel and claims specialists. - Prepare pleadings and provide support to attorneys in litigation matters. - Formulate creative pleading and motion strategies. - Attend court appearances and argue motions. - Ensure compliance with Defense Attorney Guidelines. Education and/or Experience: - . Degree from an accredited law school. - Six years of experience in medical malpractice litigation. Other Skills and Abilities: - Active license to practice law in California. - Proficiency in computer and online legal research. - Excellent legal writing skills. - Ability to work independently. If you are a highly skilled legal draftsperson with a strong understanding of trial and appellate courts and motion practice related to medical malpractice defense, we want you to join our dynamic Law and Motion Team at CAPIC. As a Law and Motion Appeal Attorney III, you will be responsible for drafting appellate briefs and motions for complex CAPIC litigated matters. Your expertise in legal writing and knowledge of case law will be essential in advocating for our clients in appellate courts. In addition to drafting briefs and motions, you will also provide advice and assistance to attorneys through all phases of litigation. Your ability to assess key issues, render opinions, and provide results will be crucial in ensuring cost-effective motions for early dismissal, trial, and post-trial motions. You will also work closely with both in-house and outside trial panel counsel to frame issues at trial and preserve records for appeal. Your expertise will also be utilized in advising on writ petitions and formulating creative pleading and motion strategies. To be considered for this position, you must have a . degree from an accredited law school and at least six years of experience in medical malpractice litigation. You must also have an active license to practice law in California and proficiency in computer and online legal research. Your excellent legal writing skills and ability to work independently will also be essential in this role.
