Duties and Responsibilities

  • Draft and prosecute patent applications, ensuring high-quality and timely submissions.
  • Manage patent portfolios, including strategic planning and execution.
  • Conduct patent analysis and provide opinions of counsel.
  • Assist in Inter Partes Reviews (IPRs) and other patent litigation support as needed.
  • Collaborate with internal and external clients, attorneys, and staff to develop strong working relationships.
  • Stay current with changes in patent law and best practices, adapting to evolving firm needs.
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with diverse stakeholders.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Demonstrate adaptability and flexibility in a dynamic work environment.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of patent drafting and prosecution experience at a firm or in-house.
  • Demonstrated experience with optics, acoustics, video and audio signal processing and codecs, virtual/augmented reality, and microscopy systems and imaging techniques.
  • Undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Optics, Physics, or Biomedical Engineering (with an electrical or software focus).
  • Admission to the USPTO is a plus.
  • Involvement with patent analysis/opinions of counsel and IPRs is a plus.
  • Experience in software and AI is a plus.
  • Graduate-level experience or an advanced technical degree is a plus.
