A law firm in Chicago, IL, is seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Class Action and Data Privacy Associate Attorney. The ideal candidate will be familiar with class action, cybersecurity, and data privacy litigation, including the Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA). This role involves significant legal research, drafting, and litigation responsibilities, including trial preparation and assistance.

Duties:

  • Conduct legal research and draft pleadings related to class action, cybersecurity, and data privacy litigation.
  • Take and defend depositions, draft, and answer discovery requests.
  • Prepare and argue class motions and handle class discovery.
  • Prepare cases for trial and assist with trial proceedings.
  • Stay current with State and Federal court rules and procedures, CAFA, BIPA, and other data privacy laws.
  • Manage a varied caseload with strong organizational skills.
  • Communicate effectively with the court, clients, and opposing counsel through strong writing and verbal communication skills.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctorate (.) from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Illinois State Bar in good standing.
  • 5+ years of experience in class action litigation.
  • Familiarity with class action, cybersecurity, and data privacy litigation, including BIPA.
  • Strong understanding of State and Federal court rules and procedures, CAFA, BIPA, and other data privacy laws.
  • Excellent organizational skills to manage a varied caseload.
  • Strong writing skills for effective communication with the court, clients, and opposing counsel.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Illinois State Bar in good standing.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in legal research and drafting.
  • Experience with taking and defending depositions.
  • Strong litigation and trial preparation skills.
  • Knowledge of class action procedures and data privacy laws.
