A law firm seeks a qualified Briefing Attorney to provide critical legal research and drafting support to its litigation teams. This position requires an individual who is adept at analyzing complex legal issues, preparing clear and persuasive legal briefs, and assisting in case strategy development. The successful candidate will contribute to the firm’s litigation efforts by drafting motions, memoranda, and other essential documents, all while collaborating closely with senior attorneys to support ongoing and future cases. Duties

  • Legal Research and Drafting:

    • Conduct comprehensive legal research to identify key legal issues, precedents, and strategies to support litigation.
    • Draft and prepare legal documents, including briefs, motions, and memoranda for court filings.
    • Provide detailed analyses of case law, statutes, and regulations to support legal arguments and case strategies.
  • Case Preparation and Strategy Development:

    • Assist senior attorneys in drafting pleadings, discovery requests, and responses.
    • Review and organize case files to ensure that all legal documentation is accurate and ready for trial.
    • Help develop case strategies by analyzing research findings and proposing compelling legal arguments.
    • Support litigation teams by preparing for hearings, depositions, and trials.
  • Collaboration and Communication:

    • Work closely with attorneys and support staff to ensure timely and accurate preparation of legal documents.
    • Communicate legal arguments and findings in written form to clients and colleagues.
    • Collaborate with teams to prepare for hearings, depositions, and other legal proceedings.
  • Continued Professional Development:

    • Stay up-to-date on relevant case law, legal trends, and procedural changes to ensure effective legal strategies.
    • Participate in firm-wide initiatives such as training sessions and legal research updates.

Requirements

  • Licensing:

    • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
    • Licensed to practice law in the state or eligible for admission by reciprocity.
  • Experience:

    • 4+ years of experience in legal research, drafting legal documents, or supporting litigation teams.
    • Prior experience in litigation support or briefing is highly preferred.
    • Experience in commercial vehicle accident litigation or trucking litigation is a plus.
    • Trial preparation experience is beneficial.
  • Skills:

    • Strong legal writing, research, and analytical skills.
    • Proficiency with legal research tools such as Westlaw, LexisNexis, or similar platforms.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
    • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
    • Willingness to learn and develop further expertise in legal research and litigation support.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Licensed to practice law in the state, or eligible for admission by reciprocity.
