Duties:

  • Represent insurance companies, employers, and third-party administrators in workers' compensation defense matters.
  • Provide legal counsel during mediations, arbitrations, trials, and appeals.
  • Draft and file legal documents such as pleadings, motions, briefs, and discovery requests.
  • Conduct thorough legal research and develop robust defense strategies for cases.
  • Attend court hearings, mediations, and depositions.
  • Defend depositions of witnesses, including experts, and present motions for summary judgments.

Requirements:

  • Licensed to practice law in Illinois (additional Indiana licensure is a plus).
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in workers' compensation defense.
  • Strong legal research and writing skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle complex legal issues and draft effective legal arguments.
  • Experience attending court hearings and taking depositions.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in the Illinois State Bar (dual licensure with Indiana preferred).

Certifications:

  • Admitted to practice in the State of Illinois.
  • Additional certifications or licensure in Indiana is a significant advantage.
