A respected law firm seeks an experienced Employment & Higher Education Associate to join its Labor, Employment, and Higher Education practice in Minneapolis. This role involves advising business clients on a wide range of employment-related matters, as well as supporting higher education institutions with compliance and policy needs. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in employment law, both in advisory and litigation contexts, and specific expertise in handling complex investigations and policy issues related to higher education.

Location

Duties

  • Provide legal advice to business clients on employment-related matters
  • Assist with research, drafting briefs, preparing pleadings, and developing employment policies
  • Investigate complaints and prepare responses to charges
  • Counsel clients on regulatory compliance, including Title IX, FERPA, and VAWA-related matters
  • Conduct training on topics such as sexual harassment, misconduct investigations, and workplace policies
  • Work collaboratively with other attorneys and support staff to ensure comprehensive client service

Requirements

  • 4 to 6 years of experience in employment law, including both advisory and litigation roles
  • Strong background in legal research, brief writing, and preparation of pleadings
  • Experience with investigating complaints and drafting policy responses
  • Client-focused approach with excellent service, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills

Education

  • Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications

  • Active license to practice law in Minnesota

  • Proficiency in employment law and regulatory compliance in higher education
  • Exceptional analytical and writing skills
  • Strong client relations and communication abilities
