A law firm in Charlotte is seeking a skilled Wealth, Trust and Estate Planning Associate Attorney with knowledge of federal estate and gift taxes. The ideal candidate will have experience in estate administration, partnerships, corporations, charitable planning, closely-held businesses planning, and sophisticated tax planning for entities and individuals. Strong research, writing, presentation, and interpersonal skills are essential for this role.

Duties:

  • Drafting wills, trusts, and other estate planning documents.
  • Advising clients on estate and gift tax planning strategies.
  • Handling estate administration and probate matters.
  • Providing legal advice on charitable planning and closely-held business planning.
  • Conducting legal research and analysis on complex estate planning issues.
  • Collaborating with senior attorneys on client matters and projects.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the state bar of North Carolina (or eligible for admission).
  • 2-4 years of experience in trusts and estates law, with a focus on estate planning.
  • Strong knowledge of federal estate and gift tax laws and regulations.
  • Experience with drafting wills, trusts, and other related documents.
  • Excellent academic credentials and a strong academic record.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in estate administration and probate proceedings.
  • Familiarity with partnership and corporate tax planning.
  • Background in charitable planning and nonprofit organizations.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sophisticated tax planning for individuals and entities.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in legal research and writing.
  • Ability to analyze complex legal issues and provide practical advice.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Team-oriented with the ability to work independently.
  • Confidence in presenting complex ideas and strategies to clients.

Certifications:

  • Certified Specialist in Estate Planning (CSEP) (preferred but not required).
  • Any relevant certifications in tax law or estate planning (desired).
