An established intellectual property law firm is seeking a Patent Prosecution Associate Attorney with a focus on electrical and computer technologies. This position offers an opportunity to work with a diverse client base, from startups to multinational corporations, to secure and enforce intellectual property rights. The role involves preparing and prosecuting patent applications, developing IP strategies, and providing counsel on various intellectual property matters.

Duties

  • Prepare and prosecute patent applications for electrical and computer technologies.
  • Conduct IP strategy development and advise clients on patent portfolio management.
  • Analyze patents and provide opinions on patent validity, infringement, and freedom to operate.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their business strategies and align IP protection accordingly.
  • Draft and negotiate intellectual property agreements, including licensing and confidentiality agreements.
  • Assist in managing and enforcing clients’ IP rights, both domestically and internationally.
  • Work with a team to maximize the value of clients' IP through strategic counsel and IP management.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience in patent prosecution, particularly with electrical and computer technologies.
  • Strong understanding of patent law and intellectual property strategies.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with clients and internal teams.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active license to practice law in a . jurisdiction (required).
  • Registration to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

Skills

  • Proficient in preparing and prosecuting patent applications in electrical/computer fields.
  • Skilled in drafting and negotiating IP agreements.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
