Staff Attorney (Law Clerk), MCASA’s Sexual Assault Legal Institute Organization: Maryland Coalition Against Sexual Assault (MCASA) Location: Silver Spring, Maryland + Hybrid Job Type: Full-Time Category: Attorney Salary: $64,000-$72,000 (Staff Attorneys) / $53,000-$55,000 (Law Clerks) Overview: The Maryland Coalition Against Sexual Assault (MCASA) is seeking a dedicated and passionate Staff Attorney (Law Clerk) to join our team at the Sexual Assault Legal Institute (SALI). As the state's sexual assault coalition, MCASA is committed to preventing sexual violence, advocating for survivors, and holding offenders accountable. Our ideal candidate will share our mission and values and be committed to creating a positive impact in the community. Responsibilities: - Provide legal services to victims of sexual assault, including assessment and referral, legal consultation, and representation in various legal proceedings - Develop and utilize skills to provide high-quality and sensitive legal services that reflect a thorough understanding of clients' social and cultural needs - Conduct legal research and maintain a reasonable caseload in compliance with grant requirements - Provide community outreach, technical assistance, and training on sexual assault-related issues - Assist in the development and coordination of low bono/pro bono attorney networks - Collect data and assist in grant report preparation - Prioritize and fulfill responsibilities in accordance with available funding and grant requirements - Comply with Maryland Rules of Professional Conduct and other duties as assigned by the Managing Attorney and Executive Director Qualifications: - . from an accredited law school - Must be admitted to the Maryland Bar (law graduates who sat for the July 2024 bar exam are welcome to apply) - Access to a car and valid driver's license - 3 years of litigation experience and/or judicial clerkship preferred - Knowledge and/or previous work experience with sexual assault-related issues preferred - Family law or immigration experience preferred - Background check required Compensation: - Staff Attorneys: $64,000-$72,000 (based on comparable positions) - Law Clerks: $53,000-$55,000 (based on comparable positions) MCASA is committed to transparency, fairness, and equity in the hiring process.
