Job Overview: A respected law firm is seeking a dedicated Associate Attorney with at least 1 year of legal experience to join its active energy, environmental, and public utilities practice. The candidate will provide legal support to a variety of clients, including renewable energy developers, municipalities, and public utilities. This position offers the opportunity to engage in regulatory proceedings, environmental compliance, and clean energy initiatives, all while maintaining a healthy work-life balance in a hybrid work setting. The role also includes supporting other practice areas within the firm as needed.

Duties:

  • Advise clients in energy and public utilities regulation, with a focus on federal and state laws.
  • Assist in regulatory proceedings before the Public Utility Commission.
  • Provide legal counsel to clients involved in renewable energy projects and clean technology.
  • Offer guidance on environmental matters, including Brownfields redevelopment, Superfund sites, and stormwater and groundwater regulations.
  • Navigate state and federal wetlands, water resource, and air quality permitting.
  • Advise clients on land conservation, historic preservation, and environmental permitting.
  • Conduct legal research, draft documents, and represent clients in regulatory and administrative hearings.
  • Collaborate with a team of attorneys to provide comprehensive legal solutions.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 1 year of legal experience, preferably in energy, environmental, or public utilities law.
  • Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Experience participating in regulatory or administrative proceedings.
  • Interest in working with clients who are committed to environmental sustainability and community impact.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active bar membership in at least one . state, with preference for states with active energy and environmental practices.

Skills:

  • Expertise in energy and environmental regulations, including public utility law.
  • Strong legal research and drafting skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in communicating complex legal matters to clients and stakeholders.
