A law firm in Melville, NY is seeking a Workers' Compensation Associate Attorney with strong analytical, writing, research, and communication skills.

Job Details:

  • Conduct legal research and analysis on workers' compensation laws and regulations.
  • Prepare legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and briefs related to workers' compensation claims.
  • Represent clients at hearings, depositions, and other legal proceedings before the New York State Workers' Compensation Board.
  • Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients and advise them on their rights and options under workers' compensation laws.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and legal staff on case strategy and client matters.
  • Maintain communication with clients to provide updates and counsel throughout the claims process.

Duties:

  • Analyze and evaluate workers' compensation claims to determine legal merit and strategy.
  • Draft and review legal documents, correspondence, and settlement agreements.
  • Attend hearings, mediations, and negotiations to advocate for clients' interests.
  • Conduct discovery, including drafting and responding to interrogatories and document requests.
  • Assist in preparing cases for trial, including witness preparation and trial strategy.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admitted to practice law in the state of New York, with a focus or interest in workers' compensation law.
  • 1-3 years of experience in workers' compensation or related field preferred; recent graduates with relevant coursework or internships will be considered.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.

Education and Certifications:

  • Admission to the New York State Bar.
