Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm located in Columbus, OH is currently seeking an experienced Employee Benefits Attorney to join its dynamic team. This role offers an exciting opportunity for an attorney with a robust background in ERISA, employee benefits, and executive compensation matters. The position will focus on a wide array of employee benefits issues, including plan design, drafting, and support for various benefit plans, as well as M&A transactions and controversial work.

Duties:

  • Advise clients on employee benefit plans including defined contribution plans, defined benefit plans, employee stock ownership plans (ESOPs), and employee welfare plans.
  • Design and draft employee benefits documentation and policies in compliance with ERISA and other relevant laws.
  • Guide executive compensation programs, including stock options, bonuses, and retirement benefits.
  • Support clients in mergers and acquisitions by reviewing and integrating employee benefit plans.
  • Handle complex employee benefit plan disputes and controversies.
  • Manage client relationships, providing expert legal advice and project management support.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless delivery of legal services and solutions to clients.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in handling employee benefits, ERISA, and executive compensation matters.
  • Demonstrated expertise in designing, implementing, and advising on employee benefit plans.
  • Strong experience in ESOP transactions and advising on ESOP-related issues.
  • Proficiency in ERISA, tax, and related laws concerning employee benefit plans.
  • Solid communication, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Bar admission in Ohio or the ability to obtain Ohio bar membership within a reasonable time frame.
