Job Next job The Senior Corporate Counsel for CarMax's captive finance division, CarMax Auto Finance (CAF), will provide legal counsel and operational risk management for compliance with consumer laws. This includes TILA, ECOA, GLBA, FCRA, ECOA (Fair Lending), FDCPA, SCRA, EFTA, TCPA, UDAAP, Bankruptcy, state law equivalents, state Retail Installment Sales Acts, and UCC Article 9. They will also oversee CarMax's sales finance licensing activities and provide legal expertise for special projects and new initiatives. This role requires a self-motivated individual with strong analytical skills and attention to detail, who can effectively communicate legal concepts to various stakeholders. The Senior Corporate Counsel will work closely with a small legal team and be based out of the Kennesaw, Georgia location with a hybrid work arrangement. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States and have a law degree and 5+ years of legal practice experience. Responsibilities: - Provide legal guidance and operational risk management for compliance with consumer laws relevant to CarMax and CAF's Compliance Management System (CMS) - Analyze regulatory developments, review policy statements and procedure documents, assess compliance risks, and support remediation efforts - Coordinate with CarMax and CAF operations partners to address compliance concerns and support operational changes and process improvements - Manage litigation, service provider agreements, and credit services related forms - Provide legal guidance and management oversight to paralegals - Work closely with a small, closely-knit legal team Qualifications: - Law degree and membership in good standing with the bar of a . jurisdiction - 5+ years of legal practice experience or other comparable experience - Previous financial services or regulatory experience preferred About CarMax: - Nation's largest retailer of used cars with over 200 locations nationwide - Committed to training and diversity, recognized as one of the FORTUNE 100 Best Companies to Work For® - Equal opportunity employer, offering reasonable accommodations for applicants upon request
