Job Overview: A respected law firm is seeking an Associate Attorney, licensed in Maryland, to join their team. Duties:

  • Represent clients in litigation, arbitration, and mediation.
  • Prepare, review, and present legal documents to ensure the best interests of clients.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across practice areas to offer comprehensive legal solutions.
  • Conduct legal research on case law, statutes, and regulations relevant to ongoing cases.
  • Analyze legal information to assist in developing effective case strategies.
  • Draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and discovery requests.
  • Prepare and organize exhibits, affidavits, and other supporting documents for court filings.
  • Manage case files and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Ensure compliance with procedural requirements when preparing and filing court documents.
  • Monitor court dockets and deadlines, keeping the legal team informed.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel as directed.
  • Assist in trial preparation, including preparing deposition summaries and trial exhibits.
  • Provide general support during trial proceedings.
  • Draft engagement letters and assist with client invoicing and expense recovery.
  • Complete special projects and other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in civil and family litigation, including trial experience.
  • Proficiency in legal research tools (Westlaw, Lexis-Nexis).
  • In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Ability to handle diverse legal matters across different practice areas.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Flexibility to handle multiple cases as needed.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership and in good standing with the Maryland State Bar.
  • Dual admission to the DC Bar is desirable but not required.
