Job Details:

  • Manage a diverse portfolio of workers' compensation cases for clients, primarily in Colorado and Nebraska.
  • Conduct legal research and provide counsel on workers' compensation laws and regulations.
  • Prepare pleadings, discovery, motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
  • Attend and represent clients at hearings, depositions, mediations, and trials as necessary.
  • Collaborate with clients, claims professionals, and other stakeholders to achieve favorable outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate and timely case records in the firm's case management system.
  • Meet deadlines and manage calendars effectively to ensure timely case progression.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in multi-tasking within a fast-paced environment of workers' compensation defense.
  • Utilize strong analytical skills to assess case facts, evidence, and strategy.
  • Prepare clients and witnesses for depositions and hearings.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments impacting workers' compensation laws.
  • Ensure compliance with ethical standards and legal requirements.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (.) from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to practice law in Colorado; admission in Nebraska is a plus.
  • 2-3 years of experience practicing workers' compensation defense law.
  • Litigation experience or a strong desire to develop litigation skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with legal research tools and case management software.
  • Demonstrated collaborative and team-oriented approach.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with multi-state workers' compensation laws.
  • Prior experience with insurance defense or representing employers in workers' compensation matters.
