Job Overview
A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney to join its reputable workers' compensation practice in New Orleans, LA. This full-time position offers the opportunity for a junior attorney to gain valuable litigation experience in representing injured workers. The ideal candidate will be involved in all aspects of litigation, including motion practice, depositions, and trial preparation. You will work under the guidance of a senior attorney with over 20 years of experience, allowing for mentoring and rapid professional development.

Duties

• Handle all phases of workers' compensation litigation, from initial filing through trial.
• Draft and file legal documents such as motions, pleadings, contracts, briefs, and affidavits.
• Attend court hearings and legal proceedings, confidently representing clients and arguing motions.
• Conduct depositions and gather relevant information to build strong cases for clients.
• Perform legal research to provide accurate legal advice and case strategy.
• Collaborate with senior attorneys to prepare for trials, serving as second chair when needed.
• Organize and maintain client files, ensuring all case details are easily accessible.
• Communicate with clients to provide case updates, gather necessary documents, and offer reassurance throughout the legal process.
• Adhere to all internal deadlines and court-imposed timelines.

Requirements

• Must have successfully passed the state bar exam and hold an active license to practice law.
• Strong legal writing and research skills are essential for drafting motions and briefs.
• Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills, with a comfort level in appearing in court.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively with senior attorneys to provide optimal client service.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
• Active bar membership in the state of Louisiana.

Certifications

• Valid Louisiana State Bar License (required).

Skills

• Proficient in legal research and document drafting.
• Excellent organizational and case management skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills for client interaction and collaboration with colleagues.
• Ability to manage a large caseload while maintaining attention to detail.
• Experience in workers' compensation law is a plus but not required.
