Job Overview

A law firm is seeking a Junior to Mid-Level Associate Attorney to handle cutting-edge issues involving privacy and data protection, intermediary liability, defamation, consumer protection, advertising, unfair competition, free speech, terms of service, and the safety of minors on the Internet. The successful candidate will provide full-service support to technology companies globally on regulatory, litigation, compliance, and criminal matters and serve in a product advisory role.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop litigation strategy and draft substantive pleadings for global matters, including data protection, defamation, IP infringement, consumer protection, contract disputes, and other legal issues.
• Oversee on-the-ground counsel to implement litigation strategies.
• Guide clients through regulatory investigations by international data protection authorities and consumer protection agencies.
• Draft written submissions, forecast potential outcomes, and advise on compliance strategies for regulatory investigations.
• Advise clients on risk assessments associated with newly developed products, policies, business structures, and proposed legislation and regulations worldwide.
• Analyze reports of unlawful social media posts or unlawful moderation of user accounts.
• Research and present global analysis of laws impacting social media companies, including intermediary liability, hate speech, and defamation.
• Collaborate with clients to synthesize legal concepts and strategies into accessible advice for non-legal business stakeholders.
• Maintain excellent professionalism and participate actively in the firm community.
• Commit to providing outstanding client service and upholding the firm's standards.

Requirements

• 2-4 years of commercial litigation experience in a law firm.
• Strong academic record.
• Admitted to the Bar and in good standing.
• Foreign language proficiency (German, French, Italian, and/or Hebrew) is a plus.

Education and Certifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the Bar in New York State.
