A law firm in Chattanooga, TN, is seeking a Financial Services Litigation Associate Attorney with a strong academic background, significant law firm or clerkship experience, and exceptional problem-solving, writing, and communication skills. This role requires expertise in complex litigation related to commercial real estate, distressed loans, and financial instruments, along with substantial courtroom experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Represent clients in financial services litigation involving commercial real estate, distressed loans, debt and security instruments, and creditor and lender liability.
  • Draft and file legal documents, including motions, briefs, and pleadings.
  • Conduct comprehensive legal research and analysis to support case strategies.
  • Manage discovery, including taking and defending depositions, preparing interrogatories, and handling document production.
  • Prepare for and participate in court proceedings, including hearings, trials, and mediations.
  • Negotiate settlements and engage in alternative dispute resolution (ADR) processes as needed.
  • Develop case strategies in collaboration with clients and team members.
  • Maintain accurate case records and ensure adherence to procedural deadlines.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Tennessee State Bar.
  • Minimum of 3 years of litigation or clerkship experience, with a focus on financial services, commercial real estate, and distressed loans.
  • Proven experience in taking and defending depositions and handling courtroom proceedings.
  • High level of academic achievement and solid problem-solving skills.
