A law firm in Washington, DC, is seeking a Mid-Level Associate Attorney with a focus on Americas Trade to join their team. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of professional experience in international trade law, with a specific emphasis on Asia-Pacific trade and regulatory matters. This role involves providing legal advice and representation in complex trade and customs investigations, advising on legislative and policy developments, and conducting detailed research and analysis. The candidate should possess strong legal advocacy skills and be adept at managing multiple projects in a fast-paced international law firm environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide expert legal advice on international trade and customs investigations, with a focus on Asia-Pacific regulatory requirements and proceedings.
  • Represent clients in complex trade and regulatory matters, including government trade investigations and compliance issues.
  • Review and analyze accounting and economic data related to production costs, export sales, financial performance, supply chains, and commercial activities in support of legal defenses.
  • Utilize strong written and verbal advocacy skills to support senior attorneys on client matters and contribute to client development.
  • Supervise professional staff conducting accounting and quantitative analyses to support the legal defense in government trade investigations.
  • Assist with special projects and client requests related to legislative and policy developments, particularly concerning trade remedy mechanisms and import/export controls.
  • Conduct in-depth research and analysis on international trade issues, legislative policy, and government trade investigations focused on China and the Asia-Pacific region.
  • Draft legal memoranda, statements of issues, and other documentation related to trade issues, World Trade Organization agreements, and multilateral and regional trade agreements.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of professional experience as an Attorney, Associate, Law Clerk, or in a related position involving international trade issues, preferably at an international law firm.
  • Experience researching and analyzing international trade issues, legislative policy, and government trade investigations.
  • Proficient in conducting legal research and drafting legal memoranda and statements on trade issues and related agreements.
  • Experienced in analyzing cost and financial data, including working with data relevant to government trade investigations in China and Asia-Pacific.
  • Skilled in managing competing deadlines and multiple projects in an international law firm setting.

Education

  • ., ., or . equivalent in law.

Certifications

  • Admission to the District of Columbia Bar.
