A law firm based in Dallas, TX, is seeking a knowledgeable Tax and Estate Planning Attorney to join their esteemed practice. This role is pivotal in providing expert guidance to high-net-worth families and entrepreneurs on all facets of estate planning, including tax implications, asset management, gifting strategies, and family dynamics. The successful candidate will report to the Director of the Tax and Estate Planning practice and will contribute significantly to enhancing client relationships and ensuring compliance with applicable laws.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise clients, including high-net-worth individuals and entrepreneurs, on comprehensive estate planning strategies that encompass tax planning, asset control, and inter-family issues.
  • Assist in the collection, organization, and analysis of information to formulate detailed and effective estate plans, including non-exempt estate strategies.
  • Review and analyze federal income tax returns, providing insights and guidance on specific tax-related issues.
  • Draft a variety of estate planning documents, including trust agreements, conveyance instruments, and related legal documents.
  • Conduct thorough research on fiduciary responsibilities and apply this knowledge to develop sound estate plans.
  • Evaluate asset valuations in accordance with IRS regulations pertaining to estate taxes for private clients.
  • Produce high-quality, meticulous legal documents and advice within a deadline-sensitive environment.
  • Collaborate with the firm’s corporate transaction department on various matters, including mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, and other corporate issues.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (.) from an accredited law school and active membership in the Texas State Bar.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience, totaling approximately 10,000 hours in tax and estate planning, including substantial drafting of estate plans, trusts, and conveyance documents.
  • In-depth knowledge of the tax landscape, including federal income tax filing requirements, estate and gift tax regulations, and IRS guidelines.
  • Proven experience in reviewing comprehensive federal income tax returns and conducting research related to IRS laws and regulations.
  • CPA credentials or an LLM with a focus on Taxation is strongly preferred.
