A law firm in Amsterdam, NY, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Creditor's Rights Attorney to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in consumer credit collections and be well-versed in the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) as well as state-specific laws regarding consumer collections. The role requires utilizing the Firm’s case management software, handling court appearances, and potentially traveling. Multi-state licensure is strongly preferred.

Duties:

  • Represent clients in creditor's rights cases, including consumer credit collections and enforcement actions.
  • Actively use the Firm’s case management and reporting software to manage and track assigned cases effectively.
  • Prepare, file, and manage legal documents such as complaints, motions, and briefs.
  • Conduct detailed legal research and provide strategic advice on creditor's rights and consumer collections matters.
  • Attend court hearings, trials, and other legal proceedings as necessary, with occasional travel required.
  • Maintain proactive communication with clients, providing regular updates and managing their expectations.
  • Oversee discovery processes, including drafting and responding to discovery requests.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop case strategies and deliver high-quality legal representation.

Requirements:

  • Member in good standing of the state bar where currently licensed.
  • Working knowledge of consumer credit collections, FDCPA regulations, and state laws regarding consumer collections.
  • Demonstrated commitment to superior client care and proactive communication.
  • Proficiency with case management and reporting software.
  • Self-starter with strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative work style.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Multi-state licensure strongly preferred.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to practice law in the state of licensure, in good standing.

Skills:

  • Expertise in creditor’s rights law and consumer credit collections.
  • Proficiency with case management and reporting software.
  • Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and apply complex legal regulations.
