Job Overview: A law firm in Tampa, FL, is seeking an experienced Liability Defense Attorney to join its team. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience handling personal injury and property damage claims, with a preference for expertise in construction defect claims. This role involves defending clients in litigation, overseeing depositions, and preparing for trials, among other responsibilities.

Duties:

• Defend clients in personal injury and property damage litigation cases.
• Handle construction defect claims, if applicable.
• Conduct depositions of liability and damages experts, parties, and fact witnesses.
• Attend Court hearings and mediations and assist with trial preparation.
• Draft pleadings, motions, and discovery documents.
• Ensure compliance with reporting guidelines and maintain contemporaneous billing records.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the Florida State Bar in good standing.
• 7-10 years of law experience, focusing on personal injury and property damage claims.
• Proven experience in defending and taking depositions.
• Familiarity with Court procedures and litigation processes.
• Strong legal research and writing skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with construction defect claims is highly preferred.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team.
• Strong organizational and time management abilities.
• Ability to manage a high caseload and meet deadlines effectively.

Certifications:

• Certification or specialization in Civil Trial Law by the Florida Bar (preferred).
