Immigration Attorney
Job Overview: A law firm in Sacramento, CA, is seeking a dedicated Immigration Attorney to join their team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for representing clients in immigration matters, managing a diverse caseload, and providing strategic legal solutions. This role requires a strong understanding of immigration law, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively with clients, law enforcement, and community organizations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Explain immigration concepts and present strategic solutions to clients.
- Represent non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals.
- Manage a workload of cases effectively and efficiently.
- Conduct intake visits with detained individuals at centers.
- Prepare various immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based immigration petitions.
- Review and make necessary adjustments to immigration applications/packets.
- Present to and collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community-based organizations on changes in immigration law.
- Meet with potential clients for strategic immigration consultations and determine necessary strategies.
- Develop and prepare clients/witnesses for court/USCIS testimony.
- Provide legal analysis to determine potential benefits for clients' cases.
- Prepare and submit legal briefs for various immigration cases.
Requirements:
- 1-4 years of experience in Immigration Law.
- Proven ability to move legal cases forward and manage a caseload effectively.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
- Experience with Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian cases, EOIR, Legal Writing, Detained cases, Citizenship, and other USCIS applications.
- Experience with Case Management Software is preferred.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and a team-oriented approach.
Education and Certifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Licensed to practice law in the state of California.
