Job Overview

A prominent law firm is seeking an experienced tax associate to join its Transactional Tax Group in San Francisco. The firm is looking for a skilled attorney with expertise in international M&A and tax planning. The ideal candidate will be adept in cross-border tax structuring, multi-jurisdictional transactions, and intragroup restructurings. The firm is focused on providing top-tier legal counsel to both domestic and international clients, offering a dynamic and supportive environment for career growth.

Duties

  • Provide strategic advice on international tax matters related to M&A, including tax-efficient structuring and cross-border transactions
  • Lead multi-jurisdictional tax planning initiatives for complex deals, ensuring compliance with relevant tax laws and regulations
  • Assist in intragroup restructuring and related tax considerations for multinational corporations
  • Draft and negotiate tax-related provisions in corporate agreements and transaction documents
  • Collaborate with internal teams and clients to devise tax strategies aligned with business goals
  • Manage client relationships, providing exceptional service and guidance on complex tax issues
  • Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulatory trends, proactively advising clients on potential impacts
  • Supervise and mentor junior associates and support staff as needed

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in tax law, specifically in international M&A and tax planning
  • Proven experience in cross-border tax structuring, multi-jurisdictional transactions, and intragroup restructurings
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to distill complex legal concepts for clients
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines
  • Must be admitted to the bar in the relevant jurisdiction and in good standing

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications

  • Licensed to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction

Skills

  • Expertise in international tax law, including tax implications of cross-border transactions
