A law firm in Philadelphia, PA, is seeking a Tax Controversy Counsel to join their tax practice group. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in tax controversy matters, including audits, appeals, and tax litigation. This role requires strong research and writing skills, exceptional client service abilities, and the capability to manage multiple matters independently.
Duties:
- Represent clients in federal, state, and local tax controversies, including audits, administrative appeals, and litigation.
- Conduct legal research, draft memoranda, pleadings, and briefs related to tax controversies.
- Provide strategic tax advice and counsel to clients facing disputes with tax authorities.
- Collaborate with other attorneys and tax professionals within the firm on complex tax matters.
- Manage and prioritize multiple tax controversy matters efficiently and effectively.
- Communicate legal strategies and findings clearly and persuasively to clients and stakeholders.
Requirements:
- Juris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited law school.
- LLM in Taxation is required.
- Admission to the state Bar and license to practice law in Pennsylvania.
- 8-10 years of experience focused on tax controversy matters, including audits, appeals, and tax litigation.
- Strong research and writing skills, demonstrated through academic achievements and professional experience.
- Proven ability to manage a high-volume workload and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact effectively with clients and colleagues.
