A law firm in Tarrytown, NY is seeking a Litigation Attorney to represent clients in litigation matters focused on professional liability or labor and employment. The role involves handling all phases of litigation, including legal research, drafting legal documents, attending court proceedings, and negotiating settlements, while maintaining proactive communication with clients.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Represent clients in all phases of litigation from initiation to expert discovery in cases involving professional liability or labor and employment.
  • Attend court appearances, hearings, depositions, and case management conferences.
  • Conduct complex legal research and discovery investigations.
  • Draft discovery requests and responses, motions, case evaluation summaries, court orders, settlement agreements, affidavits, pleadings, motions, and legal memoranda.
  • Review discovery responses and depositions, prepare summaries, and provide litigation update reports.
  • Negotiate with opposing counsel to settle claims.
  • Communicate closely with clients during litigation to provide legal analysis, status reports, and advice.

Requirements:

  • New York Bar admission is required.
  • Experience in NY litigation, particularly in professional liability or labor and employment.
  • Proven experience drafting discovery, leading depositions, and arguing motions.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state rules of civil procedures.
  • Excellent writing and organizational skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and Lexis software.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
