A law firm is seeking a qualified Healthcare Data Privacy Associate Attorney to join the . team of our leading global Data Privacy, Cybersecurity, and Digital Assets Practice. The candidate will play a crucial role in advising clients on digital healthcare privacy, data protection, cybersecurity, and compliance strategies. This position involves working directly with partners worldwide, leading projects, and interfacing with clients to ensure legal compliance and risk mitigation in the healthcare industry.

 

Job Details:

  • Provide legal counsel on digital healthcare privacy, data privacy, cybersecurity, and digital assets counseling and transactions.
  • Develop and implement global compliance strategies for privacy, data protection, international data transfers, and cybersecurity.
  • Lead or significantly contribute to projects within the Data Privacy, Cybersecurity, and Digital Assets Practice Group.
  • Conduct compliance gap assessments and implement remediation plans.
  • Draft policies and procedures, including privacy policies, privacy statements, incident response plans, vendor contracting templates, and DPAs.
  • Advise on contract and M&A negotiations in relation to healthcare data privacy.
  • Assist clients in determining compliance risks and priorities, implementing data protection compliance, and developing information governance programs.

 

Requirements:

  • . degree or equivalent.
  • Admission to practice and in good standing in any . state.
  • 4+ years of experience with meaningful knowledge of healthcare industry data privacy and security issues.
  • Incident response experience is desirable.
  • Digital healthcare and privacy experience are strongly preferred.
  • Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) certifications (CIPP-US, CIPP-EU, CIPM) are strongly preferred.

 

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of international, federal, state, and local privacy and security laws.
  • Experience with FDA, FTC, State AG guidance, GLBA, HIPAA, HITECH Act, and other relevant regulations.
  • Familiarity with US-EU and US-Swiss Privacy Shield and state consumer privacy laws (CCPA/CPRA/CDPA/CPA).
  • Working knowledge of technologies supporting compliance in healthcare data privacy and security.
