Duties

  • Draft and prosecute patent applications in the fields of electrical and computer engineering, including microprocessor technology and integrated circuit design.
  • Conduct patent infringement and invalidity analyses for clients in the technology and engineering sectors.
  • Collaborate with clients and technical teams to provide patent-related advice, including preparing responses to office actions and navigating patent prosecution processes.
  • Stay updated on patent law developments and industry trends, particularly in technology-driven fields.
  • Maintain excellent communication with clients to explain legal concepts in technical contexts.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations regarding intellectual property rights and patent law.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications, particularly in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or physics.
  • Strong technical background in areas such as microprocessor technology, computer memory architecture, or integrated circuit design.
  • Proven ability to analyze complex legal and technical issues related to patents and intellectual property.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical matters to clients.
  • Self-motivated and proactive in managing workloads, with a strong attention to detail.

Education

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a closely related field.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admitted to practice law before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
  • Bar admission in at least one . state (preferably Texas).
