Supervising Attorney, Adolescent Representation Unit at Brooklyn Defender Services What You Will Do: - Supervise and support a team of attorneys and social workers in the Adolescent Representation Unit at Brooklyn Defender Services. - Collaborate with colleagues to create an equitable and inclusive work environment. - Meet regularly with team members for individual case supervision and provide guidance and assistance throughout the legal process. - Review written work product and offer feedback to improve the quality of representation. - Attend trials and hearings to provide assistance and support to team members. - Teach and coach attorneys to further their professional development. - Assist with communication and intervention in complex or problematic situations. - Evaluate performance and provide feedback to help attorneys grow and excel. - Ensure effective collaboration among interdisciplinary staff members and practice areas. - Manage cases and assist with administrative tasks as needed. - Adhere to BDS policies and procedures. What You Need: - At least five years of experience in criminal defense or family court juvenile delinquency practice. - Strong commitment to client-centered representation. - Desire to train and support other attorneys in their professional development. - Ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary staff. - Excellent problem-solving skills. - Familiarity with case and document management systems. - Willingness to become part of a management team. - Availability to work in person as needed. Position Information: - Exempt, salaried position. - Normal schedule is Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm. - Position is based at BDS's offices in Brooklyn. - Some days may require additional time in the office. - Salary range of $112,402-$137,320, based on education and experience. - Comprehensive benefits including health insurance and retirement plan. - Generous vacation, sick, holiday, and family leave policies.
