Job Overview: A reputable law firm in Northern Indiana is seeking a litigation attorney with a minimum of 3 years of experience to join its dynamic team. This full-time position involves engaging in all aspects of litigation, including court appearances, legal research, drafting legal documents, and managing complex cases. The firm serves a diverse clientele in both corporate and education law matters. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, critical thinking abilities, and adaptability in handling shifting priorities.

Duties:

  • Conduct legal research, draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and correspondence
  • Represent clients in court hearings, trials, depositions, and mediations
  • Engage in negotiations with attorneys, claim representatives, and other parties to resolve cases
  • Review and analyze investigative information to support case strategies
  • Manage electronic case management system updates and ensure compliance with firm procedures
  • Collaborate with paralegals and support staff to ensure timely case management
  • Oversee case preparation, including meeting deadlines and managing due dates
  • Interact with clients, opposing counsel, and witnesses via telephone and in-person meetings
  • Perform other tasks as needed to support the litigation process

Requirements:

  • Licensed to practice law in Indiana
  • At least 3 years of litigation experience, with a focus on corporate or education law preferred
  • Ability to work independently and manage a fluid schedule with multiple deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of engaging with a variety of stakeholders
  • Proficiency with various legal software and tools to improve efficiency
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and adapt to different personalities
  • Previous experience in moot court or other litigation-related activities is highly valued

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active member of the Indiana State Bar
