A distinguished global law firm is seeking a Senior Commercial Attorney to join its in-house global Risk team. This position involves handling complex legal, regulatory, and strategic issues, drafting and negotiating client-facing contracts, and advising partners on contractual requirements. The role is based in New York, NY, and is ideal for a proactive and detail-oriented attorney with a strong background in commercial law and the ability to make sound risk-based decisions in a dynamic environment.

Duties

  • Work on a wide range of legal, regulatory, ethical, business, and strategic issues.
  • Draft and negotiate complex client-facing agreements, including those related to data privacy, intellectual property, and technology.
  • Ensure contracts comply with regulatory requirements, ethical standards, and internal policies.
  • Identify and mitigate business and legal risks in client contracts while supporting business goals.
  • Advise partners on client agreements, requirements, and commercial or business-related requests.
  • Manage agreements, templates, external communications, playbooks, and processes.
  • Draft and manage firm responses to client compliance and risk-related audits.
  • Enhance the efficiency and scalability of commercial legal support within the global Risk team.
  • Mentor junior attorneys and collaborate with administrative staff on the global Risk team.
  • Work with business teams such as Finance, Business Development, Information Security, and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree.
  • Minimum of 7+ years of relevant legal experience at a top-tier law firm and/or in-house. Experience in a general counsel’s office or senior in-house commercial role is a plus.
  • Proven experience in drafting and negotiating contracts.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with excellent client-facing and interpersonal abilities.
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and efficiency in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to prioritize effectively.
  • Excellent judgment, risk assessment, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proactive, resourceful, and able to work independently with a strong work ethic.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admission to the Bar in at least one . jurisdiction.
