Job Overview:
A highly regarded law firm in Chicago, IL is seeking an experienced Environmental Partner to join their well-established Environmental practice group. This role offers an exciting opportunity for a legal professional with deep experience in environmental law, particularly within real estate and corporate transactions, to advise on complex regulatory and environmental compliance matters.
Duties:
- Advise clients on environmental aspects of complex transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, asset sales, and restructurings.
- Draft and negotiate environmental representations, warranties, covenants, indemnities, and other contract provisions.
- Provide regulatory guidance on environmental compliance and permitting matters.
- Conduct environmental due diligence for various transactions.
- Counsel clients on environmental compliance before and after transactions.
- Collaborate with partners, clients, environmental consultants, and government agencies to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
- Deliver high-quality work and maintain effective communication at all levels.
- Network and build business opportunities within the practice area.
- Develop expertise in environmental law and continuously improve skills.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in environmental law, focusing on real estate and corporate transactions.
- Strong background in advising on environmental issues across industries such as manufacturing, real estate, and renewable energy.
- Proven ability to manage complex environmental legal issues.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks under time constraints.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
Education:
- Juris Doctor (.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
Certifications:
- Licensed attorney in good standing in Illinois, Michigan, or Washington, DC, or the ability to waive into one of these jurisdictions.
- Ability to travel based on client needs.
