A law firm in Irvine, CA, is seeking an experienced Commercial and Complex Litigation Associate Attorney with in-depth knowledge of California and federal wage and hour laws. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in defending wage and hour litigation, including class actions, and possess excellent communication and strategic skills.

Job Duties:

  • Defend clients in wage and hour litigation matters, focusing on California and federal laws regarding overtime, meal, and rest periods.
  • Independently prepare and respond to written discovery requests in wage and hour cases.
  • Conduct depositions and handle discovery-related motions effectively.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive discovery plans and strategies.
  • Draft persuasive legal documents, including motions opposing class certification in wage and hour disputes.
  • Communicate directly with clients, demonstrating professionalism and expertise in legal and strategic aspects of wage and hour litigation.
  • Maintain consistent communication and follow-up with clients and internal teams.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the California State Bar in good standing.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience focused on defending wage and hour litigation, preferably involving class actions.
  • Deep understanding of California and federal wage and hour laws, regulations, and relevant case law.
  • Proven ability to independently manage discovery processes and litigation tasks.
  • Exceptional writing skills with a track record of drafting effective legal documents, particularly in class certification oppositions.
  • Strong oral communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex legal issues clearly and confidently.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in commercial litigation beyond wage and hour matters is a plus.
  • Familiarity with electronic discovery tools and document management systems.
  • Trial preparation and courtroom experience.
