Job Title: Patent Agent

This role involves working on diverse and challenging projects, including drafting and prosecuting patents, conducting intellectual property portfolio management, and advising clients on their patent rights. Job Duties:
- Prepare and prosecute patent applications before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
- Draft and submit Office Action responses and communicate with Examiners.
- Conduct invention intake sessions with clients and prospective clients.
- Perform patentability and clearance searches, and draft related memoranda and opinions.
- Provide portfolio counseling and assist in the management of intellectual property portfolios.
- Assist in preparing infringement, invalidity, and freedom-to-operate opinions.
- Conduct diligence reviews for intellectual property matters.
- Stay updated on advancements in life sciences to provide informed advice to clients.
- Collaborate with internal legal teams to ensure comprehensive patent services.
- Support senior attorneys in meeting deadlines and filing requirements.
Job Requirements:
- USPTO registration is mandatory.
- A minimum of 2-4 years of experience in patent prosecution.
- Demonstrated expertise in life sciences and molecular biology; experience in organic chemistry is a plus.
- Proficiency in patent preparation and prosecution, including familiarity with USPTO rules and filing procedures.
- Experience with patent drafting and searching.
Education:
- Graduate degree in Engineering, Life Sciences, or a related field required.
- PhD preferred but candidates with a bachelor’s degree and relevant research experience will be considered.
- Life Sciences and/or Molecular Biology experience required. Organic chemistry is a plus.
Certifications:
- USPTO Registration Number is required.
Skills:

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Pro; Salesforce knowledge preferred.
