Job Overview:

The Trusts And Estate Counsel Attorney will primarily focus on serving individuals and families, closely held business owners and executives, and corporate and individual fiduciaries in all areas of estate and tax planning, business succession planning, and trust and estate administration. The role requires strong drafting skills, good communication skills, client-facing experience, solid academic credentials, and the ability to work independently and as a team while maintaining high professionalism.

Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel and guidance on estate planning matters to clients.
  • Draft and review legal documents related to trusts, wills, powers of attorney, and other estate planning instruments.
  • Assist clients in developing comprehensive strategies for wealth preservation and distribution.
  • Advise clients on tax implications and strategies related to estate planning.
  • Handle trust and estate administration matters, including probate proceedings, trust administration, and asset distribution.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience as a practicing attorney specializing in trusts and estates.
  • Strong knowledge of estate planning laws and regulations.
  • Experience working with individuals, families, business owners, and fiduciaries.
  • Excellent drafting skills with attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Client-facing experience and ability to build strong client relationships.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Maintains a high level of professionalism and integrity.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Minnesota State Bar or eligibility for admission through reciprocity.

Certifications:

  • Certification in Estate Planning or Trust and Estate Administration is preferred.
