Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm is seeking an experienced and dedicated IP Litigation Associate Attorney to join its dynamic team. The ideal candidate will bring substantial experience in intellectual property litigation, including case management, motion practice, depositions, and expert witness coordination. The role requires an individual who thrives in a collaborative, high-energy environment and has a track record of success in managing complex litigation matters.

Duties:

  • Manage and oversee intellectual property litigation cases from inception through resolution.
  • Draft and file legal briefs, motions, and other litigation-related documents.
  • Take and defend depositions of witnesses, experts, and parties.
  • Lead discovery processes, including the preparation of discovery requests and responses.
  • Work closely with expert witnesses to develop case strategies and present evidence.
  • Represent clients in Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) proceedings and trials.
  • Supervise and mentor junior associates and paralegals, guiding case management and legal strategy.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure high-quality client service and effective case outcomes.
  • Stay up to date with developments in IP law and apply them to case strategy and decisions.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in intellectual property litigation.
  • Proven experience with litigation matters, including briefing, motions practice, depositions, and trial preparation.
  • Strong understanding of patent law and related proceedings, including PTAB.
  • Ability to manage and supervise junior attorneys and support staff.
  • Licensed to practice law in North Carolina, or ability to be licensed promptly.
  • Engineering degree preferred; USPTO admission is a plus.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Bar admission in North Carolina (or ability to obtain promptly).
  • USPTO registration is preferred, especially for candidates with an engineering background.
