Job Overview:

A law firm seeks a motivated Junior Associate Attorney to join its growing team in Fairfax, VA, specializing in family and criminal law. The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in domestic relations, including divorce, child custody, support matters, adoptions, and domestic violence cases. This role is an excellent opportunity for an attorney passionate about litigation and providing high-quality service to clients.

Duties:

• Conduct legal research on family law and criminal defense cases.
• Attend return hearings, and pretrial conferences, and provide representation at court proceedings.
• Draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and court filings.
• Collaborate with team members to develop case strategies and ensure exceptional client service.
• Manage time effectively to meet deadlines and case milestones.
• Engage in continuous professional development to stay current on Virginia laws and legal procedures.

Requirements:

• Membership in good standing with the Virginia State Bar (those awaiting bar results may also be considered).
• Strong verbal communication and legal writing skills.
• Reliable transportation for travel to court and client meetings.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Licensed to practice law in Virginia or have completed the Virginia Bar Exam.

Skills:

• Proficiency in legal research and analysis.
• Strong time management and organizational skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
• Spanish language fluency is a plus but not required.

Location:

• Fairfax, VA (Across from the Fairfax County Courthouse)
