Executive Division - Summer Fellow for Reproductive Justice – New York City Reference No. EXEC_REJ_NYC_FEL_SUM_2025 Organization: Office of the New York State Attorney General (OAG) Salary: Full-time, summer placement for law students with work-study or public interest/public service funding; eligibility for funding must be confirmed by school or funding source Application Deadline: February 28, 2025* Department: Executive Division Location: New York City The Office of the New York State Attorney General’s (OAG) Executive Division is offering a unique opportunity for a law student to work as a full-time summer fellow during the 2025 Summer Program. The selected student will have the chance to work directly with the Special Counsel for Reproductive Justice and collaborate with various bureaus within the OAG, including Health Care, Civil Rights, Internet and Technology, and Appeals and Opinions. This fellowship will focus on supporting the OAG’s efforts in litigation, legislative work, policy advocacy, and public education in the rapidly changing legal landscape following the Supreme Court’s reversal of Roe v. Wade. *Note: Applications are accepted online until February 28, 2025, and fellowship offers are made on a rolling basis. Job Duties: • Assist with research and writing assignments • Track legislative and policy developments at the state and national levels • Assist with legal filings, including cite-checking, formatting, and proofreading briefs and other documents • Provide eDiscovery support, including searching for documents, tagging and organizing documents, and coordinating with OAG’s Practice Technologies Group • Assist with other legal and office support functions as needed Qualifications: • Enrolled in a full-time day or evening JD program • Excellent organizational, proofreading, and multitasking skills • Strong research, writing, and communication skills • Proactive with the ability to self-manage assignments and deadlines • Able to work independently and as a team member • Strong technology skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, and experience using Westlaw or other legal research tools • Familiarity with eDiscovery applications Preferred Qualifications/Skills: • Experience with legal and factual research and document analysis • Prior work experience in a legal setting • Prior policy and/or legislative experience Placement Details: • Hybrid format: students will report to their designated workstation two or three (2-3) days per week and work remotely on other days • Students must have a reliable computer, secure internet connection, phone, and private workspace for remote work • Summer program runs for eight weeks from May 19 – July 11, 2025; ten-week placements are available if required by funding source • Applicants must provide written documentation from their school or funding source confirming eligibility for public service/public interest or work-study funding with the OAG • United States (.) citizenship and New York state residency are not required, but applicants must be eligible to work in the .
