A law firm is seeking a Senior International Tax Associate / Counsel to join its International Tax Practice. The ideal candidate will have 7+ years of experience in planning inbound and outbound cross-border transactions for a diverse range of industries. This role involves providing sophisticated tax planning advice, collaborating with global clients, and managing international tax matters independently and as part of a team. Candidates with an accounting background, CPA license, or an . in Tax are preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Advise clients on international tax issues related to cross-border transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, and restructurings.
  • Provide tax planning services for inbound and outbound investments, including foreign tax credits, transfer pricing, and treaty benefits.
  • Collaborate with clients on cross-border structuring to minimize global tax liabilities and ensure tax compliance.
  • Draft and review complex legal documents such as tax opinions, intercompany agreements, and tax provisions for business transactions.
  • Research and analyze . and international tax laws, treaties, and regulations to provide strategic guidance.
  • Prepare legal memoranda, position papers, and correspondence on international tax issues.
  • Represent clients in tax disputes, audits, and litigation with . and foreign tax authorities.
  • Work closely with other practice groups, such as corporate law and real estate, to ensure seamless integration of tax strategies in business transactions.
  • Develop and maintain client relationships by offering proactive tax planning solutions.
  • Manage multiple complex projects, both independently and in collaboration with a team of professionals.
  • Stay current on changes in . and international tax law and apply these changes to client matters.
  • Supervise and mentor junior associates and paralegals as needed.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Minimum of 7+ years of experience in international tax law, including cross-border transaction planning.
  • Education:
    • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
    • A degree in accounting, CPA license, or . in Taxation is strongly preferred.
  • Certification: Must be admitted to practice law in Texas.
  • Skills:
    • In-depth knowledge of . and international tax laws, regulations, and treaties.
    • Strong research, analytical, and writing skills, with the ability to present complex tax matters clearly.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects with a high level of attention to detail.
    • Excellent communication and client consultation skills.
