The role will focus on a subset of responsibilities within the Legal Department, requiring discretion and independent judgment in decision-making. The ideal candidate will have a . and state bar membership in good standing, excellent academic credentials, and a strong commitment to nonprofit and political work. Key Responsibilities include: - Corporate and Tax Compliance: Ensuring sound corporate governance practices and maintaining good standing with federal and state regulators. - Election Law and Campaign Finance: Advising on options and structures for election-related work and providing guidance on fundraising and communications. - First Amendment and Charitable Solicitation: Representing the organization's right to conduct door-to-door and street canvassing. - Contracts: Drafting and reviewing contracts, leases, and grant agreements. - Risk Management: Working with organizational leaders to adopt policies that protect the organization from legal exposure. - Employment Practices: Advising on employment matters and benefits systems.
