Position Summary:
Under the direct supervision of the College's General Counsel, the Assistant/Associate General Counsel will manage a variety of legal matters independently and simultaneously. This includes balancing multiple priorities and communication with colleagues and clients. The ideal candidate will have a strong and diverse legal background, including real-world litigation experience, and be able to offer dynamic solutions to complex legal issues.
Salary Information:
- Assistant General Counsel: Minimum of 3 years' experience with a law firm, non-profit, governmental agency, or equivalent. Licensed member of the State Bar of Georgia.
- Associate General Counsel: Minimum of 5 years' experience with a law firm, non-profit, governmental agency, or equivalent. Licensed member of the State Bar of Georgia.
Required Qualifications:
- Assistant General Counsel: Juris Doctorate (.) Law degree from an accredited institution.
- Associate General Counsel: Juris Doctorate (.) Law degree from an accredited institution.
- Licensed member of the State Bar of Georgia.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with drafting, reviewing, and editing various types of contracts.
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously with varying deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team.
- Knowledge of computer web-based functions.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Provide legal advice and services to the Board of Trustees, President, administration, and faculty.
- Conduct legal research and training for College departments on workplace, academic, and student-focused issues.
- Represent the College in administrative, regulatory, and judicial proceedings.
- Provide legal advice and support on transactional matters, including procurement, real estate, construction, and copyright.
- Assist with overall management of the College's compliance initiatives.
- Draft, review, and revise contracts to ensure compliance with College policies.
- Participate in key College committees and projects.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Percentage of Time:
Full-time position.
