Financial Applications Engineer - Chicago, IL

**MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***., an international law firm, is seeking a Financial Applications Engineer to join our dynamic Information Technology department in our Chicago office. This role is responsible for maintaining and supporting financial and accounting applications, implementing new modules, and ensuring alignment with firm and client business requirements. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated individual with a commitment to excellence and a strong background in IT systems applications.

Key Responsibilities:

- Ensure financial applications meet business needs and evolve to meet future needs
- Prioritize and deliver projects with the Global Financial Applications Manager's support
- Provide support for customized or packaged financial applications
- Respond promptly to calls and inquiries from staff regarding financial applications
- Manage multiple large and complex projects concurrently
- Maintain strong communication with firm management, sponsors, users, and IT personnel
- Attend user groups and evaluate new financial products/applications for the firm's business
- Recommend improvements for financial applications usage
- Comply with the IT Department's change request system and perform preventative maintenance
- Contribute to financial applications user and systems needs analysis and requirements definition
- Design, code, test, and debug programs, ensuring alignment with organizational and business goals
- Participate in vendor evaluation and selection processes
- Work with IT management and staff to continually improve operations management practices
- Foster positive working relationships with colleagues and users
- Communicate effectively with superiors and report on progress

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
- Minimum 6 years' experience in an IT systems applications environment
- 5+ years managing high-performance back-office and administrative support systems, including Aderant Expert and other Finance & Accounting applications
- 6 years of IT industry experience, preferably in a professional partnership environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Visio
- In-depth knowledge of Aderant Expert technology and relevant client-server and web-compliant development tools
- Strong understanding of relational databases
- Ability to conduct research and perform mathematical calculations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work in a diverse team environment and support the needs of the firm
- Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple projects
- Solid strategic thinking and problem-solving skills
- Resilience and ability to handle setbacks
- Willingness to challenge the status quo

Physical Requirements:

- Occasional lifting of up to 20 lbs.
