H1: 2025 LSNC Summer Law Clerk Program
H2: Program Overview
The 2025 LSNC Summer Law Clerk Program is a 10-week, full-time internship for law students from May 27, 2025 through August 1, 2025. The program will take place in various locations including Auburn, Chico, Eureka, Redding, Sacramento, Ukiah, Vallejo, and Woodland, as well as with LSNC's Western States Pension Assistance Project in Sacramento.
Training & Mentorship:
- The program begins with a multi-day orientation to expose law students to major legal issues facing low-income individuals and teach necessary advocacy skills.
- Law clerks will receive additional training and guidance from a mentor attorney in their assigned office or project.
- Opportunities for client interviewing, drafting memos, working with community groups, and conducting legal research will be available.
- Law clerks may also work on projects such as designing community education seminars and conducting in-depth research on substantive law topics.
Funding & Credit:
- A modest living expense stipend will be offered to qualified summer law clerks.
- LSNC may assist in pursuing public interest law foundation grants or work-study funds.
- Law clerks may also seek externship credit in lieu of summer funding.
Application & Selection Process:
- Interested law students can apply directly or through public interest career events.
- LSNC will conduct interviews and make offers on a rolling basis until March 14, 2025.
- To apply directly, applicants should submit a resume, cover letter with preferred office placement(s), and unofficial law school transcript to **** by January 31, 2025 with the subject line "2025 Summer Law Clerk Program".
