LSNC Summer Law Clerk Program Overview:
- 10-week, full-time law student internship from May 27, 2025 through August 1, 2025
- Offered in person at LSNC offices in Auburn, Chico, Eureka, Redding, Sacramento, Ukiah, Vallejo, Woodland, and Western States Pension Assistance Project in Sacramento
- Includes multi-day orientation and mentorship from experienced attorneys
Training and Mentorship:
- Law clerks will receive exposure to major legal problems facing low-income individuals and advocacy skills needed to assist in these cases
- Additional training may be provided at assigned offices
- Opportunities to engage in client interviewing, drafting memos, working with community groups, and conducting legal research
- May work on projects such as designing community education seminars, conducting in-depth research on substantive law topics, or creating legal resources for clients and staff
- Guidance and mentorship from experienced attorneys throughout the summer
Funding and Credit:
- Qualified summer law clerks may receive a modest living expense stipend
- Assistance may be provided in pursuing public interest law foundation grants or work-study funds
- LSNC will work with law clerks seeking externship credit in lieu of summer funding
Application and Selection Process:
- Law students may apply directly or through public interest career events
- Rolling basis interviews and offers will be made through March 14, 2025
