(Philippines) - ROHQ Your future team The Product Underwriting Legal team is part of the Global Legal, Compliance and Regulatory (GLCR) department at AIG. This team provides high quality advisory, transactional and regulatory support across the Company. This role will support projects that are time-sensitive, highly visible inside and outside of the company, and key to AIG’s strategic business initiatives. The team is comprised of attorneys and other para-professionals who work collaboratively to support the business. Job Description As a Product Counsel, you will be responsible for drafting and developing new and updated standard proprietary AIG products, policies, and endorsements. You will also provide advice and insights on policies and endorsements used by other market participants, ensure underwriting intent is reflected in policy and endorsement wording, and work with various teams to address exposure trends. This role requires strong communication and collaboration skills, as well as the ability to prioritize and deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced environment. Salary Information: - Base salary range for positions based in New York City and Jersey City is $160,000 - $190,000. - Additional bonus eligibility in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan. Job Title: Product Counsel - Product Underwriting Legal Experience Required: - Legal degree and current legal qualifications/licenses required. - Previous experience advising senior business partners/clients on complex insurance wording, coverage, and related insurance transactional matters. - Strong ability to work in a team environment and prioritize projects. - Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. - Detail-oriented with a focus on developing thorough documentation. - Curiosity and eagerness to learn from experiences and new situations. - Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office tools and legal research databases. Responsibilities: - Draft and develop new and updated standard proprietary AIG products, policies, and endorsements. - Support the Lead Underwriting Counsel in providing advice to the Chief Underwriting Office (CUO) in adopting new and updated policies and endorsements. - Develop AIG policies and endorsements based on broker and other insurers’ forms. - Work closely with GLCR colleagues to address legal, regulatory, and compliance issues related to product development and policy wordings. - Provide advice and insights on policies and endorsements used by other market participants. - Ensure underwriting intent is reflected in clear and unambiguous policy and endorsement wording. - Identify exposure trends and work with other areas in AIG to address them in policies and endorsements. - Drive remediation of existing policies and endorsements. - Act as a liaison coordinating and driving policy and endorsement wording drafting and discussions with internal and external stakeholders. - Support the population and maintenance of a comprehensive policy and endorsement repository. - Provide training on policies and endorsements for AIG underwriting staff. - Support the Lead Underwriting Counsel in developing guidelines and authorities for product and wording governance.
